You may wonder, is Lithuanian language difficult? Well, it's not that hard if you study step by step.
What will you learn?
- To introduce yourself, tell about your ordinary day, leisure activities
- To tell about your family and friends
- To use common phrases in your daily life: shopping, ordering food, requesting a service, asking for help, traveling
- To tell about your family and friends
- To pronounce vowels and consonants
- To inflect the verb būti (“to be”) and other common verbs
- To learn how to make both positive and negative statements
- To inflect nouns, starting with mostly used cases
- To create plural form of nouns and adjectives

When meeting someone, you can say "Labas". It means "hi" and it is an informal greeting. Listen to the conversation below. Repeat the phrases.
However, If you want to greet several persons or would like the greeting to sound more formal, you can tell "Sveiki". When addressing someone we barely know, or even relatives if they're older, we also use the respectful pronoun "jūs".
You can also tell "Labas rytas" (Good morning), "Laba diena" (Good day) or "Labas vakaras"(Good evening) accordingly. Listen and repeat.Mano vardas - my name

Lithuanian language has these vowels: A E I Y U O and Ą Ę Ė Į Ū Ų. Vowels can be short or long depending on the accent, which is hard to predict. As you see, some of the vowels have specific signs (diacritics), which shows that they should be pronounced longer. Check some examples below.
Lithuanian language has some vowels that are meant to be together. They are called diphthongs and pronounced as one sound. We believe them to make Lithuanian language melodious! Listen and repeat.

Lithuanian language has the following consonants: B C Č D F G H J K L M N P R S Š T V Z Ž. As you see, some of them also have diacritics. Listen to audio below on how to pronounce some of these sounds and learn names of food items.
